Pay Periods:
A pay period is the payroll cycle or schedule on which an organization processes and distributes their employee wages. The pay period sets the start and end dates for tracking worked hours, hourly wages, and payroll calculations.
Administrators or managers with appropriate access permissions can configure the pay period for payroll calculation. Based on your organization's requirements, you can set the pay period as
weekly, biweekly, semi-monthly, or monthly. Payroll report is generated based on the pay period selected and the start date of the pay period.

Pay Rules:
Pay rules help organizations to streamline the employee pay based on their worked hours and ensure they are rightly paid for the extra hours or odd hours they work. While setting up the pay rules, various factors like regional labour law, and business needs can be taken into consideration.
Administrators or managers with appropriate access permissions can
configure pay rules. Pay rules in Zoho Shifts allow you to set up incentives for extra hours, such as overtime, double overtime, and shift differentials, to reward employees for working beyond standard hours. Depending on your organization's needs, you can customize rules for weekly overtime, public holiday overtime, night shifts, or weekend shifts.
Once pay rules are set, you can
assign the pay rules to the employees to ensure that the employee's payroll is calculated accurately with the configured pay rules.
Payroll Report:
Payroll reports are generated based on the employee timesheets (worked hours) and payroll configurations. Managers review and finalize the pay period for payroll processing by the payroll team.
