Customizing Trident (macOS)

When you sign in to Trident for the first time, you will be prompted to customize your workspace and take the onboarding tour to learn about its key features.

Customizing Your Workspace

To customize Trident, click Customize Now on the welcome screen, then choose from the following options.

Style

Accent Color

Module Icons Position

Once you are done with the basic app customization, you can click Take a Tour to learn about all the modules and smart features available in Trident, or click Done to skip the onboarding tour. 

NotesNote: You can also customize your workspace later by navigating to your profile image > Settings > Appearance.  

Configuring General App Settings

To configure the general app settings: 

  1. Click your profile image in the top-right corner of the app.
  2. Select Settings from the menu list.
  3. Go to General to customize the settings.

Here you can choose to:

Options

Description

Auto-Refresh

Refreshes the app automatically when it is active.

Show Menu Bar App

Offers access to Trident's features from the menu bar app. 

Auto-Download Media

Automatically downloads the media you receive via chats. 

Sync Web Settings

Syncs settings from the Zoho Mail web app.

Update Automatically

Prompts whenever there is a new app update. 

Note: In this prompt, you can toggle on the option to automatically download and install new updates. 

Configuring Appearance Settings

To configure the app appearance: 

  1. Click your profile image in the top-right corner of the app.
  2. Select Settings from the menu list.
  3. Go to Appearance to customize the settings.

Here you can set the:

Module Icons Position

Choose whether to position the module icons on the left or at the top of the app.

Mode

Switch between Light, Dark, and System mode.

Style

Switch between Native, Colored, and Classic style.

Accent Color

Choose an accent color.

Font

Choose from the available font types.

Text Size

Choose from the available font sizes. 

Customizing Keyboard Shortcuts

You can customizing keyboard shortcuts for actions from Trident and your Mac system settings.  

To customize keyboard shortcuts from Trident:

  1. Click your profile image in the top-right corner of the app.

  2. Select Settings from the dropdown menu.

  3. Select Shortcuts.

  4. Click the shortcut you want to customize.

  5. Press the new key combination you want to assign for the action. 



Notes

Notes:

  • You will be prompted to change the shortcut if the key combination is:

    • Already in use for any other action.

    • Already in use for a macOS system action.


 

  • You can restore all the keyboard shortcuts to default by clicking the Reset button.

Customizing Keyboard Shortcuts from macOS Settings  

To customize keyboard shortcuts from your macOS settings:

  1. Click the Apple menu in the top-left corner of your screen.

  2. Select System Settings.

  3. Click Keyboard in the left sidebar.

  4. Click Keyboard Shortcuts under Keyboard Navigation section on the right.

  5. Click App Shortcuts in the left sidebar.

  6. Click the plus  icon.

  7. In the pop-up that opens, select Trident from the list of applications

  8. Enter the exact action name as given in Trident shortcuts in Menu title.

  9. In the keyboard shortcut field, press the new key combination you want to assign for the action.

  10. Click Done


 Removing Keyboard Shortcuts from macOS Settings 

To remove keyboard shortcuts from macOS Settings:

  1. Click the Apple menu in the top-left corner of your screen.

  2. Select System Settings.

  3. Click Keyboard in the left sidebar.

  4. Click Keyboard Shortcuts under Keyboard Navigation section on the right.

  5. Click App Shortcuts in the left sidebar.

  6. Expand the list of shortcuts under Trident.

  7. Select the shortcut you want to remove.

  8. Click the minus  icon. 


NotesNote: If you want to remove all shortcuts for Trident, select Trident and click the minus icon.

Configuring Privacy and Security Settings

To configure the privacy and security settings:

  1. Click your profile image in the top-right corner of the app.
  2. Select Settings from the menu list.
  3. Go to Privacy and Security. 

Enabling Database Encryption

This provides an additional layer of security by encrypting the content of the local database. To enable encryption:

  1. Toggle the Enable Encryption option on.
  2. In the alert that appears, click Enable.

NotesNote: Enabling database encryption will automatically restart the application.

Enabling App Lock

This helps you password-protect Trident and prevent unauthorized access to your data.

To enable App Lock:

  1. Toggle the Enable App Lock option on.
  2. In the Create Password pop-up that appears, set a password and, if you prefer, provide a password hint. 
  3. Click Create Password.

Notes
Note: By default, the automatic lock duration is set to 30 seconds, and Touch ID is enabled for unlocking the app.

To change the app password:

  1. Click the Change Password button in the App Lock section.
  2. In the pop-up that appears, enter the current password.
  3. Enter your desired new password.
  4. Provide a password hint if required.
  5. Click Change Password to confirm the changes.

Notes

Note: If you forget your password, click Sign Out on the app lock screen. After signing out, log back in to Trident using your Zoho Mail ID and password. App Lock will be disabled, and you can enable it by creating a new app password.

To change the automatic lock duration:

  1. Click the drop-down list next to Enable automatic lock.
  2. In the drop-down list, choose your preferred duration.
  3. Enter your password and click Confirm.

NotesNote: By default, automatic locking is enabled after 30 seconds.
To disable Touch ID for unlocking Trident:
  1. Toggle off the Unlock with Touch ID option.
  2. In the Disable Touch ID pop-up, enter your password.
  3. Click Confirm.

To disable App Lock:
  1. Toggle the Enable App Lock option off. 
  2. In the Disable App Lock pop-up, enter your password.
  3. Click Confirm
