Email Deliverability Tip #2: Make a great first impression with your subject line
In yesterday's post, we learned about techniques to grow and maintain a mailing list. Today we'll learn about how your subject line can make an impact on conversions.
The subject line is one of the few things a recipient notices before opening an email. A good, compelling subject line is the gateway to achieving better open and click rates. Here are few best practices you can follow while crafting a subject line:
- Don't use misleading subject lines. Keep them short and crisp.
- Avoid spam trigger phrases and use emojis carefully.
- Use merge tags to personalize your subject line with the recipient's name.
- Don't use ALL CAPS or overuse exclamation and punctuation marks.
- Use the A/B testing feature to identify subject lines that get the best response.

You can save your emails from being unsubscribed/trashed by adding a proper subscription-preferences option in your emails (works best at the time of signup). Giving subscribers the option to choose what they want to receive from you and decide how often (frequency of the emails) your emails should hit their inboxes will increase the reach of your campaigns manifolds.
