WFH Tip : 17 Integrate your Zobots with third-party services using Connections in SalesIQ

Zobots in SalesIQ are radically changing end-user experiences and developer frameworks and thus business models, how we monetize, and how we advertise. They have taken over a myriad of industries ranging from aviation to hospitality. All these industries need integrations with multiple products and services to keep their customer base intact and to stay updated about customer activity on the website. To facilitate this, Zobots in SalesIQ have a feature called Connections.
For example, you can take an example as simple as an online automobile service website that allows visitors to schedule test drives and vehicle services. You can create a connection with a calendar service like Zoho Calendar or Google Calendar and record all of the test drives and services scheduled. The Zobot will collect all the details required to schedule an appointment - like name, email, phone number, location, etc. and then fix an appointment and record it on your calendar. This way, you can keep track of all appointments and make sure you don't miss out on any of them. This post will talk about what connections are, how they can be created and how they can help businesses save time and effort.

What are connections?
  • Connections are interfaces that are used to integrate third-party services with your Zoho Service, in this case, Zoho SalesIQ. These connections are used in an URL invocation task to access authenticated data.
  • To establish a connection, it is necessary to provide a Connection Name and Authentication Type amongst other details. When you provide these details, it will take care of authentication and establish a safe connection with either Zoho apps or external ones.
  • In Deluge, there are 4 HTTP methods: GET, POST, PUT and DELETE and 3 authentication types: Basic, OAuth1 and OAuth2, where OAuth1 and OAuth2 are used to establish secure access between SalesIQ and other apps.
Categories of Connections:
There are two categories of connections available in the Zobot.
  1. Own Connections - The connections that you create and authenticate yourself are listed under this category.
  2. Shared Connections - The connections that are created by others and authenticated by you are called Shared Connections.
Types of Connections:
Under these categories, there are two types of connections that you can create -
  • Default - There are a list of services that SalesIQ offers to establish connections with. You can choose one from this list and create a connection with that service. The Pick your Service option contains a list of third-party services pre-registered with Zoho SalesIQ. These connections, when used, will have the name of Zoho DRE in the third party services.

  • Custom Service - If you want to establish a connection with a service that is not in the list of pre-registered services offered by SalesIQ, you can create a connection with a service of your choice.

What are the steps to be followed to connect Zoho SalesIQ with third-party services:
  • Click Manage Connections at the bottom left of the screen.
  • In the All connections page, you'll find two categories : Own Connection and Shared Connection. Choose a category.
  • Then, choose the service you want to establish a connection with.
  • Give the connection a name, choose the scope and then click Create and Connect.
  • Authenticate the connection and use the Deluge code snippet below inside the context handler of the Zobot to make your connection work. This way the connection will be established.
