What's New in Zoho Books - September 2020
Hello everyone!
Here at Zoho Books, we're always working to build new features and enhance our existing ones for you. This month is no exception. Let's look at what's new this September 2020.
Use business performance ratios to track organizational progress
Monitor your organization's financial health with business performance ratios. These metrics help you understand the financial results of your business so you can stay on top of your cash flow.
You can view:
- Current Ratio: The comparison of your business’s current assets with its current liabilities.
- Gross Profit Ratio: Helps you understand the operational performance of your business.
- Debt Ratio: Measures the extent of a company’s leverage by comparing total debt to total assets.
- Net Profit Ratio: The ratio of net profit to net sales. Net profit is the remaining profit after all costs have been deducted from sales and income taxes have been recognized.
- Acid Test Ratio: Helps a business understand if it has sufficient short term assets to pay off its short term liabilities.
- Receivable Turnover Ratio: Measures the efficiency of a business to collect its dues from its customers.
- Debt to Equity Ratio: A leverage ratio that helps businesses understand the weight of total liabilities and debts against their shareholders’ equity.
- Operating Cost Ratio: The comparison of a business's total operating expenses with its net sales.
To view:
Go to Reports > Business Overview Reports > Business Performance Ratios.
Select the desired ratio from the drop-down menu.
Provide item-level discounts for bills and purchase orders
You can now give discounts at the line item level for both purchase orders and bills. When creating a purchase order or bill, you will be given an option to choose between applying the discount at the transaction level or line item level.
To apply discounts:
1. Go to Purchases > Purchase Orders or Bills.
2. Create a transaction and select Discount Type.
Auto-apply credits and excess payments to recurring invoices
You no longer need to apply credit notes or a customer's excess payments to recurring invoices manually. Once you enable this option in your preferences, Zoho Books will automatically apply any credit or excess payment recorded for the customer to the invoice before sending it to them.
To configure:
Go to Settings > Preferences > Recurring Invoices > General.
View contact remarks while creating sales and purchase orders
You can view the remarks that you've added for a contact when creating a sales order or purchase order. This way, you can view them while creating a transaction instead of viewing them separately in the contact details page. These remarks are only for internal reference and will not be displayed on your transaction.
