Adding resources

This page is applicable for Bookings 2.0 version only. To view the equivalent Bookings 1.0 version, please check this page.
QuoteResources are physical assets that can be booked or rented for a specific duration. They represent bookable assets that can be assigned to event types, allowing customers to reserve them for a selected date and time. You can use resources when customers need to reserve items such as rooms, venues, equipments, vehicles, or other rentable assets.

1. How resources work

Resources are physical properties that allow customers to book them based on availability and time-based pricing. This is ideal for businesses that charge for resources, helping to schedule and manage them efficiently. In Zoho Bookings, resource booking allows you to manage and schedule physical assets or any other rentable items. You can add these as resources, assign them to the required event type (to be able to offer the resource as a service), and let customers book them based on their availability. Once the resource booking appointment is created, Notifications will be sent to the customer and assigned user based on the configuration for the selected event type.
Example: An apartment clubhouse offers facilities such as a badminton court, swimming pool, and indoor stadium for residents to reserve. These facilities can be added as resources and assigned to the relevant event types. Residents can then select and book the required facility based on availability, while Zoho Bookings automatically prevents overlapping reservations and keeps all stakeholders informed through notifications.

  • Name - Name of the resource. This field supports between 2 and 50 characters.
  • Assign Workspaces - You can assign the resources to the required workspaces by clicking on the dropdown.

  • DescriptionYou can include detailed information related to the resource.

  1. Click Add. A new resource will be added.

You will be redirected to the Resources section, where the newly created resource will be listed. Resources can be assigned to the eventtypes and made available for booking.

Points to note
  1. When a resource is booked, there is no fixed booking limit. Instead, customers are charged based on the duration of their booking, which may lead to extended usage without preset time constraints. For example, if the rate is $1 per hour, customers can book the resource for any duration (e.g., 20 hours) and will be charged accordingly (e.g., $20).
  2. Under Custom Labels, you can rename Resources to any term that fits your setup (for example, Rooms, Equipment, or Facilities). This customized label will appear across all relevant sections in your Bookings account for a consistent experience.
