Here are a few scenarios to help you understand candidate stages and how they are associated with application statuses in Zoho Recruit.
When will a candidate be hired?
Case 1:
Single Application
Say John is associated with the Visual Designer job. You interview him and decide he would be the right fit. When you update his Application to one of the hired statuses (refer GIF below), his application will move to Hired.
His Candidate Stage will become Hired.
Case 2: Multiple Applications
Say John is associated for both macOS and iOS developer jobs in your company. As he progresses through your hiring process, his application to iOS developer seems to fit well. In this case, John's iOS developer application will move to Hired, while the other application (macOS developer) will automatically move to Archived.
His Candidate Stage will become Hired.
When will a candidate be rejected?
Case 1: Single Application
Say Kerry is associated for Visual Designer job opening. You interview her and decide she would not be the right fit for the job opening. Now, Kerry's application will move to
Rejected.
Her Candidate Stage will move to Rejected.
Case 2: Multiple Applications
Say Kerry is associated with the Product Marketer and Marketing Analyst jobs in your company. As she progresses through your hiring process, you feel that her application doesn't fit well to either job. In this case, you can reject all the applications of Kerry.
Her Candidate Stage will become Rejected.
Pro tip:
You can either manually reject Kerry's applications one-by-one, or completely reject all her applications at once.
When will a candidate be available?
This case occurs when a job has only one opening.
Consider three candidates, Sally, Tim, and Jo, apply for the Data Scientist job, which only has one opening. After connecting with all three candidates, you decide Sally would be the best fit. The other two applications from Tim and Jo will move to Archived.
Their Candidate Stage will become Available.
Note: Just in case Tim or Jo are associated with a different job, they will not move to Available.
