Customizing Mail Module Preferences in Trident (Windows)

In this article, we'll see how you can customize the Mail module in Trident to suit your preferences.

Customizing Mailbox Layout and Views

Trident offers various options to customize your mailbox layout and how you view email details. To apply these customizations:

  1. Click the Main Menu icon in the top-left corner of the app.

  1. Select Settings from the drop-down menu.

  1. Select Mail.

  1. Under Mail Layout Options and Mail View Options,  customize the settings as per your preference.


The following are the available customization options under Mail Layout:

  1. Open emails in vertical, horizontal, or no split views.
  1. Show email list in comfort or compact views.
  1. Show email details in comfort or compact views.
  1. Limit the number of email summary lines displayed in the email listing.
  1. Show or hide the sender's image in the email listing.

The following are the available customization options under Mail View:
  1. Enable or disable conversation mode.
  1. Show or hide the subject for individual emails in threaded conversations.



NotesNote: This customization is possible only when conversation mode is enabled.

  1. Show Streams comments in the pop-over or at the bottom of the email detail by default.
  1. View the Mail detail action items with only icons or icons and titles.



  1. List attachments either at the top or bottom of the email.
  • Mark the first email as read upon opening the email, after a set duration, manually, or when the email selection changes.

Here's a quick overview of how each of the customization options will function.
Upon Opening the Email
As soon as you open the email in the detail view, it will be marked as read.
After x Seconds
After you view the email for the chosen duration, it will be marked as read.
When the Email Selection Changes
No matter how long you view the email, it won't be marked as read unless you view another email.  
Manually
You must manually click the Mark as Read icon each time. 


Customizing  Mail Composer    

To customize the Mail Composer settings:

  1. Click the Main Menu icon in the top-left corner of the app.

  2. Select Settings from the drop-down menu.

  3. Select Mail.

  4. Go to Mail Composer and customize the settings as per your preference.


The following are the available Mail Composer customization options.

  • Open the Mail Composer in a new window or a floating window.


  • Set the text direction in the Mail Composer.

  1. Show the Cc and Bcc fields at all times when you open a new email. 
  1. Enable or disable spell check.

Switching Between Dark and Light Modes

In addition to the customization options in the Settings, you can also switch between Light and Dark modes in the Mail Composer according to your preference. You can do so by clicking the Switch to Dark mode  or Switch to Light mode  icon respectively.


Similarly, you can also view the email detail in Light and Dark modes without changing the app's Dark theme. You can do so by clicking the Switch to Dark Mode  or Switch to Light Mode  icon respectively.

    

Using Shortcuts 

Trident offers various keyboard shortcuts to use the Mail module. To view these shortcuts:

  1. Click the Main Menu icon in the top-left corner of the app.

  1. Select Settings from the drop-down menu.

  1. Select Shortcuts.

  1. Scroll down to the Mail section and you'll find the shortcuts mentioned below.
