It's important to verify your recipient's identity before they access and sign important documents to prevent fraudulent transactions and ensure the highest level of compliance is achieved.
Zoho Sign now supports identity verification of recipients through Stripe Identity. This method is offered to users to have their recipients authenticated along with other recipient authentication methods like SMS, email, WhatsApp, and offline.
Pre-requisites
- A paid Zoho Sign subscription
- A paid Stripe Identity subscription (Users will use their own key (BYOK) to integrate Zoho Sign with Stripe Identity)
How to enable recipient authentication via Stripe Identity
This action can only be performed by administrators. If you're an administrator, follow these steps:
- From the left navigation pane, hover on Settings > Integration.
- Type 'Stripe Identity' in the search box, or you can find it listed under Identity providers.
- Click Configure.
- Click Enable.
- Once toggled, select the checkbox and click Agree and Enable in the Terms of Service window to enable the authentication.
- Enter the Stripe Identity account's API key (Secret key) and click Save.
How to obtain API keys from your Stripe Identity account
Stripe will authenticate your API requests based on your account’s API keys. In the absence of a valid API key, Stripe will return an invalid request error. You can use your Stripe Developer's Dashboard to create a new API key, reveal or delete the key.
To access your API keys:
- From your Stripe developers dashboard, click Developers in the left navigation pane.
- Click API keys and click the Secret key to copy.
How to select recipient authentication via Stripe Identity
From your Zoho Sign dashboard, select Send for Signatures, upload the document and enter the recipient details, e-mail and name, in the fields under the Add recipients section.
To set authentication via Stripe Identity:
- Click Customize to the right of the recipient action menu.
- Select Recipient identity verification via Stripe Identity from the Authentication type drop-down box.
- Click Save. Once all other settings are done and document fields are added, send the document out for signature.
Recipient experience
From the email inbox, you recipient needs to click the email that contains the document signing link. They will find the document details, including sender's email address, document expiration date, and a private note (if added by the sender).
- Click Start Signing > Proceed with Stripe Identity verification.
- Click Agree and Continue.
- Your recipient will be asked to scan the QR code.
- Once done, your recipient must scan the front and back of their ID (driving license, passport, or government-issued photo ID), take a photo of themselves. Upon verification, your recipient will be able to access the document and they can proceed with document signing.
No additional credits will be deducted, as you will be using your own key for this integration.
