Hello Sprinters!
We started this year with a bang with the release of Zoho Sprints 2.0. We've tried to match that energy with a great deal of new features and enhancements in the succeeding quarter. There have been quite a few feedback from our proactive customers that we've incorporated into the product.
The following are the recent updates that have been rolled out:
- Enabling subitem checklist to be cloned
- Allowing bulk update in global view
- Extending permissions for client users
- Supporting Zoho Directory sync
- Introducing new custom auto number field
- Enabling field level access control
- Enhancing user group capabilities
- Supporting user group sync for Zoho Projects integration
Let's get into the details of these updates.
Clone subitem checklists
Previously, cloning an item would include the subitems in the clone, but the checklists of the subitems would not get cloned. This behavior has now been changed to support cloning of the subitem checklists as well. So, when you clone an item that has subitems, the subitems along with their checklists (if available) will be included in the clone.

Bulk update data on global view
The inclusion of the bulk edit capability in the global view tab allows you to manage the update of voluminous data with ease. Users with the required field edit permission will be able to edit work items in bulk in global view tab. This is supported for both default and custom views. This also includes the inline update of field values.

Extended client permission
Earlier, there was a restriction on the client user's view permission for the comment thread. Now, the Client permissions are extended to view all the comments.
Note: This feature is rolled out only for new workspaces and not to existing workspaces due to the probability of security violations. To enable this capability for existing workspaces, kindly reach us at
support@zohosprints.com with your workspace details. The feature will be enabled.

Zoho directory sync
Manage and monitor your user access with the help of Zoho Directory sync. The Zoho Directory capabilities are now listed under the Users section in Settings for easy access and review. Zoho Directory allows you to configure SAML-based sign in using an identity provider of your preference, track your users' login history and active sessions, and define custom security policies to enhance your data security.

Default layout setting
You now have the autonomy to select your preferred layout as the default layout. Layout customization allows you to pick a layout as default to apply it to all upcoming projects automatically. If you change this preference and select a different layout as default, the existing projects will not be impacted; the changed layout will only be applied for new projects.

Custom Auto Number Field
The custom field palette now includes a new field called the auto number field. This allows you to populate serialized values for your records. For instance, you can add the auto number field to your create item form to include a record ID for your work items. The field allows you to add text and numbers, and provides a preview of the value that will be generated.

Control access to field data
Previously, the permission settings of a user profile enabled you to control access to module-level or entity-level actions. This meant that you can control the level of accessibility of a user belonging to a particular profile on a module level. With the introduction of field level permissions, you can control the actions that a user can perform on a field. You define a user profile to have field-specific view, edit, and hide controls for each entity, equipping you with a much more nuanced permission settings capability.

Field level permissions are applicable to the following modules:
- Projects
- Users
- Sprints
- Work Items
- Epic
- Timesheet
- Release
With these permission settings, you can greatly customize the access level in each of these modules for each of the user profiles. For instance, if your workspace has users with developer, tester, web designer, and marketer profiles, you can enable or disable field permissions in the above listed modules based on these user profiles, ensuring that the users of the respective profiles only have access to the data or fields relevant to them.
Besides, you can set profile permissions for managing custom layouts and fields at the module level (entity level). Let's assume you run your development effort on Sprints, and you need to allow the development leads to have permission to manage the custom fields of work items alone. You can enable the permission only for work items, limiting their permission to that module alone.

Refined user group feature
User groups feature is well-refined with it's alias verification process and the ability to notify group members promptly. There is the added advantage of assigning user groups to items, sprints, and projects. This allows all the users of the assigned user groups to access the respective item, sprint, or project.

The latest enhancement also allows user group syncs between Zoho Sprints and Zoho Projects to happen seamlessly. You can now add or update the group in one either sprints workspace or projects portal and have it synced to the other.

That's all for now. We have many more exciting features coming up. Stay tuned.
